Adult Designs
1.) What exactly is it that you do in the Adult Industry?
What company do you currently work for? What's your job title
or duties?
Well,
I'm first and foremost an adult graphic designer - and I love
it. At first it was just another job to me, something to keep
the bills paid and the food on the table, I'm sure we can all
relate to that. Nowadays it's much more of a passion to me;
the launching of my own design company with some business partners
has given me the time and freedom to really give my designs
everything I've got.
Aside
from designing, I also moderate a design-based chatboard and
write a few tutorials every so often for commonly used high-end
developer programs.
2.) When did you actually get started in the industry?
I crash-landed in the Adult Industry around three years
ago, at the end of 2000. A close mate of mine got me a job with
a respected adult design company as a 'webmaster' of sorts.
I'd be in charge of updating the company's site, getting exposure
for it and other endless odd-jobs. Soon enough the bosses asked
me to take on a few little design jobs - I didn't go too well
at first. Soon enough I got the hang of things and lo and behold
I actually managed to crank out some half-decent designs :)
3.) If you could change one thing about the Adult Industry
what would it be and why?
It would have to be the way the world perceives us and
our jobs - computer-touting smut peddlers. There are many ways
we can work to get rid of this impression, but I really feel
the industry, as a whole, needs more sense of community. The
recent industry issues with various companies have shown that
there's a certain lack of awareness about ongoing news that
directly effects everyone within the biz. If we were able to
come together to solve these problems instead of letting the
'big people' handle it, I think we'd be one step closer to having
a thoroughly respected industry. And every great journey begins
with a step!
4.) What advice would you offer to anyone that's just
starting out in the industry?
Don't do it! You're cutting into my piece of the pie!
:) In all seriousness, my piece of advice would be not to expect
instant rewards. Like any business, it takes motivation, dedication
and time to make things work.
5.) Tell us about any sites you might operate or that
you're most proud of.
My main design site is http://www.onlineadultdesigns.com
and it's run by myself, Matt and Peter (a long time friend).
Matt's great for the company, as he really pushes us to make
sure we're providing the best service we possibly can. We also
take care of a smattering of tgp and avs sites, as well as a
mainstream design site.

What are your hobbies?
I'd be lying if I didn't say designing. I love to spend my spare
time learning new techniques and programs. Otherwise I spend
a few hours a week polishing up my guitar skills inbetween seeing
'the boys', playing lacrosse, riding for exercise, reading novels
or watching my favorite movies.
7.) Are you married? Have a girlfriend or boyfriend? Or
both? *giggle*
Nope, none of the above! I've had a few flings over
the last couple of years, but nothing that turned into anything.
There's just not enough time in one day for me to take care
of a young business and a relationship at the moment.
8.) How much time would you say you spend working in a
day and do you take regular vacations?
7 - 8 hours a day, 6 days a week. About 2 of those hours
I'll spend on various message boards for networking and exposure
(and to hang around all the great people!), however the other
6 hours or so is dedicated solely to design. No time for holidays
just yet!
9.) Is there anything personal or professional that you
would like to add or that you would like others to know about
you?
Nothing comes to mind. I should get a shameless plug in here
but it's just not in me :)
10.) What's the one thing you like best about Rated Hot?
The friendly atmosphere there's none of the bitchin'
and whingin' that goes on with so many other boards these days,
mainly because everyone who visits Rated Hot is so damn nice
- and that's just such a refreshing change. Plus it's the only
place that's got Princess there everyday! Woohoo!
