1.) What exactly is it that you do in the Adult Industry?
What company do you currently work for? What's your job title
or duties?
I am VP of Sales for Ounique.com. We license content to adult webmasters. My main job is help our clients find what they are looking for, answer questions, make announcements about new sales and promotions, and write the company newsletter that we send out twice a week. I also make it a point to let people know more about us. People often don't realize that we sell more than just images, we do videos and stories as well. Plus, I post on the boards. That's my favorite part because I'm being visible (which is important for our company) but then I get to make friends and have fun as well.
2.) When did you actually get started in the industry?
I worked as an audio engineer at an adult phone service when I first graduated from college, and then after several 'normal' jobs I wanted to get back into the adult industry. That's when I found Ounique. I've been here about three years.
3.) If you could change one thing about the Adult Industry
what would it be and why?
People tend to use the word "pornography" too much. What we do is adult entertainment and when people call themselves pornographers it brings undue attention on us. I'd want to see people avoid that term entirely.
4.) What advice would you offer to anyone that's just
starting out in the industry?
Buy lots and lots of content!!! LOL! Just kidding. I honestly think the most important thing anyone can do is to educate themselves about the industry before trying to do anything on your own. Take advantage of all the great educational resources there are for new adult webmasters.
5.) Tell us about any sites you might operate or that
you're most proud of.
I only work in content sales, I don't operate any websites.
6.)
What are your hobbies?
Music is my number one hobby. I write music for adult films, I'm a singer and a songwriter and I've recently been trying to get a band started in LA. I'm also very involved in the local leather/bdsm scene and count fetish as a big hobby. I love to talk to people about what turns them on. I always say that I'm the official fetish advisor for Ounique because anytime someone needs info on a particular fetish, I'm always the one everyone asks.
7.) Are you married? Have a girlfriend or boyfriend? Or
both? *giggle*
No, I'm single and looking for prince charming (in leather, hee hee)
8.) How much time would you say you spend working in a
day and do you take regular vacations?
I have regular office hours, M-F. I tend to take several long weekends through the year rather than full weekly vacations.
9.) Is there anything personal or professional that you
would like to add or that you would like others to know about
you?
I'm not shy about anything, so if you ever wanted to ask about something about me, whether it be research for a fetish/niche site or if you were just curious, feel free. I love when people ask me to explain what one of the keywords in our content store page means. Or they are working on a site and want to know what kinds of images would go along with their idea. Sometimes I worry if I share too much, but then I think about what kind of industry this is and if you can't be open minded here, where can you be? LOL!
10.) What's the one thing you like best about Rated Hot?
Marsha! LOL! Well, that's only half true. I like the people. There are really great conversations going on here and people you really want to chat with, do business with and learn from. Marsha is an excellent cheerleader to keep things going. And the overall atmosphere is just so comfortable. Plus, the little vibrator smilies rock!
